BREAKING: Walt Disney World Proposes a July 11th Reopening Date to Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force
UPDATE: The Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force has voted to approve Disney's reopening plan. Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings has also endorsed the plan. It will now be sent to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for final decision.
Walt Disney World Senior Vice President of Operations Jim McPhee has just proposed a July 11th reopening date for The Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. Epcot and Hollywood Studios will reopen as a part of phase 2 on July 15th.The proposed date was shared as part of Disney's complete proposal to reopen presented to the Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force this morning, which outlined how Disney plans to keep guests safe when the parks reopen.
In order for this proposed date to become official, Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings must endorse the proposal after the task force votes to move forward. Then, the proposal must be endorsed by Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings, and then Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will make a final decision. Universal Orlando proposed their reopening plan last week with a June 5th reopening date. That proposal was approved by all levels and was put in motion.
