Disney on Broadway to Air Benefit Show For Covid-19 Relief Fund

Disney on Broadway has announced that it will air a free broadcast of the "Celebrating 25 Magical Years of Disney on Broadway” benefit concert, which was held last year to mark the silver anniversary of Disney's Broadway run, and benefited Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. This year, the concert will benefit the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS’ COVID-19 Emergency Assistance Fund.

The sold-out show took place on November 4th, 2019 at the New Amsterdam Theatre and featured 79 actors from Disney's 25 years on Broadway. The show raised $570,426 for the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS organization.

While the show will feature the taped performance, there will also be live interviews with Disney on Broadway stars from their homes throughout the stream. Ryan McCartan (Frozen on Broadway) will host the show from his home. Deadline also reports the show will feature the reuniting of 18 Newsies from the show's Broadway and touring productions.

“The event last November was such an unforgettable evening of Disney on Broadway magic,” Broadway Cares Executive Director Tom Viola said. “We are so grateful to all our friends at Disney Theatrical Productions for generously joining us in sharing this evening again, supporting our entertainment industry friends and colleagues who are out of work and facing serious health and personal challenges due to this devastating coronavirus pandemic.”

The event will be streamed at, and at 7PM EST on Monday, April 13th.
