Here's to the Future: Our Most Anticipated New Offerings Coming to Epcot
Unless you live under a rock, you know that Epcot is currently being reimagined at Disney World. Most of the park is currently behind walls, under construction, and being prepared to usher in an all-new era of Walt's passion project. At last year's D23 Expo in Anaheim California, we got a first look at the complete plans for the reimagined park, complete with concept art, sneak peeks, and a more solidified timeline of when the new experiences will be opening. With our all-new Epcot Sweater which drops today, we thought we'd celebrate by looking to the future and highlighting some of our most anticipated new offerings coming to the park! We have a world of new offerings to cover, so let's get started!
1. Play Pavilion
The Play Pavilion will replace the former Wonders of Life pavilion which previously housed the Epcot Food & Wine Festival Center, and originally housed the Body Wars and Cranium Command attractions. The new Play Pavilion experience will open in time for the 50th anniversary of the Walt Disney World Resort. The pavilion introduces an immersive and interactive ‘city’ where you can explore, create, and interact with some of your favorite Disney characters. While it sounds like this pavilion will be more driven toward a younger crowd, the concept art looks incredible and it's exactly what we imagine when we think of stepping into a "Disney City". We also see this as being a great way to kill some time in an air-conditioned space in between fast passes, or just somewhere with seating to cool down on a hot summer day while the kids play!
2. Epcot Festival Pavilion
Up next is one of the most unique and ambitious new buildings we've ever seen from Disney. The trees are on TOP of the building!!! This is the new space that the Festival Center, previously housed in the Wonders of Life Pavilion, will be moving too. The three-story structure will house a plaza level, an expo center, and a rooftop park. The massive glass walls surrounding the middle level look absolutely gorgeous and will house the Festival Center festivities with panoramic views of the park. The top-level will be a park complete with trees and greenery, which will boast incredible views of the nighttime fireworks show, and provide the ideal spot to people watch. This will be the signature to the new Dreamers Point area and truly does have the potential to be the best addition to the reimagining of the park!
3. Epcot Park Entrance
The Epcot main entrance is also being redesigned. Those ugly Leave a Legacy tombstones have finally been ripped out and are being replace with some gorgeous greenery including trees, topiaries, and other plants that gives the park so much more of a welcoming feel. In the concept art above we also see a new fountain that looks extremely similar to the original fountain structure that was there when the park first opened. We also see 12 flags with what appears to be the Epcot logo on them lining the area toward Space Ship Earth and the rest of the park. Overall this is a MUCH improved welcome experience for the park and while it's still very much under construction and development, we can't wait to step into this new arrival experience each time we visit the hottest girl in school (the Epcot Ball)!
4. New France Pavilion Offerings
Of all the countries in Epcot's World Showcase, France by far is getting the most love. Coming soon is both Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and the Authentic Crêperie. Remy's Ratatouille Adventure will essentially be a copy and paste of the Disneyland Paris attraction, however, we LOVE that they're incorporating some of the elements of the movie such as the signature Gusteau's restaurant sign, and the gorgeous fountain that's being put in place just outside the entrance to the attraction. We can't wait to shrink down to rat size and step into the world of Ratatouille in a truly larger than life way! We're also extremely excited to experience the Authentic Crêperie, which will feature full-service dining and quick-service dining options, featuring the cuisine of chef Jérôme Bocuse. We already have Chef's de France, Monsieur Paul, and now another table service offering just in the France Pavilion alone and we are HERE for it!
Epcot's newest night-time spectacular, Harmonious, will debut this Spring as the permeant replacement to Illuminations: Reflections of Earth. The new show will replace its temporary fill-in Epcot Forever. The show will be driven around music, specifically Disney music, and how it inspires people around the world. Harmonious will be the largest Disney spectacular ever created for Disney Parks. The show will feature a diverse group of artists from around the globe. Similar to Illuminations, the show will feature floating set pieces with LED lights, choreographed moving fountains, lights, fireworks, lasers and more! While we miss Illuminations a lot, the sneak preview of the Harmonious soundtrack we heard at D23 was beautiful and we're really optimistic that this show will live up to the high expectations placed upon it by its successor.
So those are our most anticipated offerings coming to Epcot within the next few years! Epcot has always been at the forefront of the future, and this complete reimagining of the park will continue that promise that Walt himself made. While there are (and will continue to be) some not-so-pretty growing pains throughout the park while the new offerings are being built (looking at you, construction walls), the end result is sure to be one worth waiting for.
