The highly anticipated new Disney Plus documentary "Howard" is set to premiere on the streaming service August 7th. The documentary follows Disney Legend Howard Ashman, who is responsible for some of the most well-known Disney songs of all time including those featured in Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Little Mermaid.

The documentary will track The Oscar-winning lyricist's youth in Baltimore, his formative years in New York, and his ultimate tragic death from AIDS in 1991.
Howard had a tremendous impact on Disney animation. His initial project was the Off-Broadway musical Little Shop of Horrors, which he worked on with Alan Menken, and later adapted the musical into a film with Frank Oz.
Ashman's ability to create characters, develop story and create some of the most beloved songs of all-time drove the success behind some of Disney Animation's earlier films.
The documentary will be produced and directed by Don Hahn and will be a full-length tribute to the Disney Legend.
