This week we’re off to a restaurant we love to go to but some how have never fully talked about... SKIPPER CANTEEN! I’m gonna just put out the blanket statement that Skipper Canteen is easily the best restaurant in Magic Kingdom! SORRY FOLKS BUT IT IS. Where else can you get a whole fried fish head and all? Nowhere else. It has the most unique and interesting menu out of any restaurant in the park and practically everything on it is a HIT!
Lost & Found Soup
We started off the meal with a gluten free and vegan Lost & Found soup which tastes almost like a butternut squash soup! It had so much flavor and was the perfect start to our meal!
Falls Family Falafel
Before we get into everything else that we loved, we have to report on the one thing that flopped. Even though the falafel is in fact gluten free, both Joe and I thought it was super dry and didn't really enjoy it. The hummus that came with it helped a little bit, but it was still pretty dry for the most part. I'm sure that our batch was just over fried, but we were definitely a bit bummed.
S.E.A. Shu Mai
This is the only menu item that isn't gluten free, but it's definitely one of my favorites! They're a blend of pork, shrimp, edamame beans, and spices wrapped in gyoza skin then steamed. They come with an amazing dipping sauce and I could easily eat a whole order by myself!
"Hardy Har Char" Siu Pork
I order the Char Siu Pork literally every single time I come to Skipper Canteen because it's just THAT good! It's char siu-marinated pork served with seasonal vegetables and jasmine rice. There's so much flavor and it's definitely my favorite Magic Kingdom meal of all time!
"Tastes Like Chicken" Because It Is!
Joe ordered his own personal favorite - the "Tastes Like Chicken" Because It Is! It's crispy-fried chicken served with jasmine rice, chili glaze, and seasonal vegetables and neither of us can still believe that it's completely gluten free! I tried a bit of the chicken too and it was incredible!
Coconut Bar
We finished off the meal with a coconut bar that our Skipper called a "stick of butter" when she brought it out to us! It was super light, balanced, and full of flavor! I had pineapple and a Thai basil sauce on it too that really took to another level.

Aside from the dry falafel, this was yet another astounding meal at Skipper Canteen! We found out that basically the ENTIRE MENU aside from the Shu Mai can be made GLUTEN FREE as well! It’s also super easy to get walk up reservations on the right days making this the true winner of all Magic Kingdom food!
