The Perfect Way To Do A Monorail Crawl In Walt Disney World

Monorail Crawl Time!

If you know anything about us, it's that we're experts at eating and drinking (mocktails too) around the parks.

Don't get it twisted when we say our ratings are always unbiased and always top tier because we don't eat anywhere that isn't a stand out. We've tried it all and have been everywhere and we're here with you in the year 2024 to share the ultimate map of how to do a Monorail Crawl. Not like all those other people. Like the Lost Bros. Cuz that's us. The Lost Bros

Follow along with us!

Where Do You Start?

Great question. 2 choices and both of them start at the Trasportation and Ticket Center!

  1. If you have a designated driver and/or are not drinking but doing more of a hotel tour and snack around the Seven Seas Lagoon vibe, then we absolutely recommend parking at the TTC and leaving your car there. This is the most central place to start on the monorail and is a great starting and ending point.
  2. You still go to the TTC - but if your entire party is planning on not being sober- take an Uber or Lyft! Have them drop you off and pick you up at the TTC (or you can get them to drop you off at your starting resort, but that defeats the purpose of this being a monorail crawl. Come on!)

Resort #1

Again two choices, but I'm going to bold the Lost Bros choice.

  1. Start at the Polynesian. For folks that want to secure a spot in line for Trader Sam's Grog Grotto, (the way-too-popular and not at all hidden gem tiki bar in the Poly), this is the move for you. We love this place, but if you've already been once, you don't need to go again! Ever since it blew up, we honestly opt to skip this bar and go to the Trader Sam's Tiki Terrace outside OR the Tambu Lounge upstairs in front of 'Ohana (because you can get noodles). Both of these bars serve almost all the same drinks you can find in Trader Sam's but better crowd levels and there's way less stress about getting in. If you're there for the drinks and not the theming, this is the best choice.

Eat:

  • Potstickers (Tambu Lounge)
  • California Roll (Tambu Lounge)
  • Dumplings (Trader Sam's Grog Grotto and the Tiki Terrace)
  • Thai Chicken Flatbread (Trader Sam's Grog Grotto and the Tiki Terrace)

Drink:

  • Backscratcher (Tambu Lounge)
  • Polynesian Mai Tai (Tambu Lounge)
  • Uh-Oa (Trader Sam's Grog Grotto and the Tiki Terrace)
  • Skipper Sipper (Non-Alcoholic) (Tiki Terrace)

2. Start at the Contemporary!!! Get to the Contemp ASAP and put your name on the walk-up list for California Grill when it opens! Depending on your wait or if you get in at all for that spot, go grab a drinkie at Steakhouse 71 Lounge or the pool bar outside, The Sand Bar. Either way you're enjoying a nice drink whether you get into Cali Grill or not! Start with a snack and a drink and make sure to hydrate with water in between!

Eat:

  • House-made Artisinal-style Duck A L'Orange Pizza (California Grill)
  • Selection of California Cheeses (California Grill)
  • Steakhouse 71 Onion Rings (Steakhouse 71 Lounge)
  • Loaded Mac and Cheese (Steakhouse 71 Lounge)

Drink:

  • The Newgroni (California Grill)
  • Icewine Martini (California Grill)
  • Not A Pop (Steakhouse 71 Lounge)
  • Curious Cold Brew (Steakhouse 71 Lounge)
  • Full Bar at all locations in the Contemp so all cocktails/mocktails can easily be made!

We would like to add that starting at the Contemorary helps because of the direction of the monorail.

Next Stop!

Next stop no matter where you start is the Grand Floridian!!

We love the Grand Flo for all things food, drinks and views. We highly recommend everything at Enchanted Rose Lounge, but this one has also become not-so-hidden lately, so it's usually busy! If you can get a spot at Enchanted Rose, we recommend sitting outside on the balcony if the weather permits because we love this view. If Enchanted Rose isn't in the cards, there's a lounge right down the hall at Cítricos that we also adore!! Grab a drink here and you won't regret it either.

Eat:

  • House-made Truffle Fries (Enchanted Rose)
  • Charcuterie and Artisanal Cheeses (Enchanted Rose)
  • Braised Pork Belly (Cítricos Lounge)
  • Smoked Cauliflower (Cítricos Lounge)

Drink:

  • Sunny Margarita (Enchanted Rose)
  • Lavender Fog (Enchanted Rose)
  • 212 Manhattan (Cítricos Lounge)
  • 1806 Old Fashioned (Cítricos Lounge)

Last But Not Least...

If you started at the Poly, then it's time to hit up the Contemporary and enjoy the fireworks from the pool bar or at the top at California Grill if you can get in. (And pro tip- if you eat at Cali Grill any time during the day and bring back your reciept, you can see the fireworks at Magic Kingdom from their viewing deck!)

If you started at the Contemporary, now's the time to kick off your shoes and enjoy the fireworks from the Poly beach! (Bonus points for ending at the Poly is that you're super close to the TTC for a pickup or car close by!) Fireworks can be seen from nearly all of the backside of the Polynesian, so you can see them from the outside bar or the beach.
